My Approach to Helping

I offer relationship therapy and sex therapy to all types of couples to improve their relationship. I primarily work with young adult couples in their 20's and 30's, and sometimes 40's. I work with couples who are significantly struggling as well as those simply looking for a "tune-up." Sometimes couples seek therapy as they go through a major milestone, such as moving in, making a career decision, having a child, or getting married. Sometimes couples seek help when there are sexual concerns, such as different levels of desire, difficulty having sex, or discomfort talking about sex. Others seek therapy when conflict begins to take over the relationship. Regardless of the reason, most couples wish they started sooner. It is never too late, but it also never too early.

My approach is wholly client-centered and affirming, which means I will support your personal experience of gender, ethnicity, nationality, and sexual orientation. I support clients who are LGBTQIA+ or gender non-binary. I also have specific experience working with first- and second- generation immigrants to understand issues of identity, and welcome all people regardless of immigration status. All couples are welcome, including poly couples.

I primarily use the Gottman method to help you understand and improve your relationship with specific activities that we will practice together during therapy sessions. With this model, the goal is to learn how to have healthy conflict. Conflict within relationships is inevitable, but it doesn't have to be destructive. During sessions we'll practice having difficult conversations using new skills that you can use at home. When needed I also offer sex therapy to help you talk about and improve your sex life together.

Therapy is a place to examine who you are, and what life is really about, in a therapeutic space that is warm, accepting, and interactive. I will help you understand your story and discover new skills so that you can grow to your fullest potential. We are hardwired for human connection, which is why therapy is so powerful and effective.

As an LMSW therapist, all therapy services are provided under direct clinical supervision of senior clinicians. I take a collaborative, team-based approach so that you can get the most effective therapy possible.
