My Approach to Helping

Are you struggling? Are worries, trauma, or depression causing challenges in your life? I can be the support you need. We cannot always confide in loved ones and friends about our struggles for fear of judgment or straining the relationship. I am here to help you develop emotional tools that can be used to improve communication and alleviate mental health struggles. During our time together we will create strategies and techniques specific to your needs that will promote healthy choices and make your life as happy as possible.

I am a licensed Social Worker. I attended Rutgers University for my undergraduate and graduate studies in Social Work. During my time at Rutgers, I was able to gain experience supporting and counseling adults with a variety of mental health diagnoses and challenges. After graduation, I facilitated in-home individual and family therapy sessions. I also worked in the educational setting as a Certified School Social Worker. The diagnoses that were most common across all the settings were anxiety, depression, anger management issues, and posttraumatic stress (PTSD). Through these opportunities, I was able to use talk therapy, or cognitive behavioral therapy to help people unlock emotional triggers and improve their mental health. I also incorporate mindful practices including breathing and thought training exercises.

I offer a compassionate space where you can gain insight and express your emotional needs. I want to help you unlock the root cause of unhealthy communication and thought and explore practices to express yourself effectively. Everyone deserves that right to live with dignity and respect. I believe that a big part of being a therapist is integrity. People in positions to help others should use their service to uplift them, not to serve their own self-interests. As a woman of color, I am a proponent of social justice and equality for all. I support organizations like The Black Youth Project and American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) that promote equal rights no matter the individual's race or gender. I also support the LQBTQIA+ community and organizations like GLAAD and The Trevor Project.
