My Approach to Helping
Angelica Rivera is an LPC-Associate that is one her way to getting a doctorate in Professional Counseling and specializing in Trauma, Grief and Loss. She went to Houston Baptist University for her Bachelors where she majored in Psychology and Christianity. Then went to the Houston Graduate School of Theology where she was trained to work with spiritual and nonspiritual populations as well as individuals and families. Now she is currently in pursuit of her Doctorate at HGST as well.
She is multiculturally trained, trauma-informed, and works with spiritual and nonspiritual populations. She works with children, individuals, couples and families. Her specialties are trauma, grief, loss, identity, anxiety and depression.
Her approach to therapy is Person-Centered and Solution-Focused. With knowledgeable support and affirming companionship we can do anything. She validates the client as the expert of their reality and creates an environment where the client is the teacher of their lives. Treatment plans are collaborative and without shaming. With a listening ear, curiosity and unconditional positive regard we can explore the root causes of issues together.
In her free time she enjoys reading philosophy, watching comedies, playing the piano, running, enjoying her two cats, and drinking a nice cup of coffee
