My Approach to Helping

I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who has been treating adolescents, adults, couples, and families for over 20 years. I am trained in a wide variety of clinical approaches designed to produce measurable, meaningful, and powerful results. I also work with families, including those with adult children, and couples, to help improve or repair relationships. My approach is positive, caring, and solution-focused. I believe that your therapy results should be significant and clear. I am humbled when people trust me to help them reach their treatment goals, and I take that responsibility very seriously.

I treat people with a wide variety of goals and concerns, including sadness, anxiety, regret, confidence issues, loss, and worry. I have specialties in sports performance improvement, public speaking anxiety, panic attacks, fear of flying, expected and unexpected life transitions, and test-taking anxiety. I also treat people looking for an existential approach in order to find greater meaning and purpose in their life.

I would be happy to provide a one-time assessment to help you understand what might be causing your symptoms and stress, and why it has been challenging to find solutions thus far. This assessment will provide pathways, possibly including but also beyond therapy, to help you or your child reach your goals.

I strongly believe that therapy should not be a mystery. We will set goals that are deeply meaningful and important to you, and we will track your progress in ways that show the befits clearly, and how we can change course to make sure you get the most significant benefits. In the end, you should be aware and proud of the improvements you have made, feel better, and have new insights that make you feel stronger.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

Therapy is a powerful and effective tool, and for many people, it is truly life-changing. It is hard to describe exactly how long we might work together, but you should see the benefits clearly over the course of our work. In other words, as we go along you should reach important goals and then decide whether to set new ones. If we're still meeting after a while it means we still have work to do, but it also means that you've already reached some goals.
