I've been helping people work through difficult times in their lives for over 25 years. My approach in working with people is holistic and developmental. Every person with whom I work, is doing their best to move through their unique life journey. Learning how to embrace and share your special gift(s), along with learning how to heal and "contain", your life wound(s), are essential skills, we all need as we move through our individual human journey.
I deeply believe that every human being has the capacity to embody their greatest potential, and that every human being is deserving of being treated with honor and respect. I strive always, to meet each person where s/he is, in the moment of our connecting.
Using a wide variety of therapeutic models, designed to best serve the needed growth, we can work together to optimize your strengths, and to resolve current and/or long held painful experiences that are creating obstacles to your continued growth and well being. I consider the opportunity to work with my clients, as a privilege.

My mission in being a Psychotherapist is to be a trust worthy ally. To be your compassionate companion, helping you along your way toward growing the life you want to live.
How Psychotherapy Can Help
A wise man named Scott Peck, began one of his books with this sentence;
"Life is difficult". These are the first three words.
Though this is certainly true, it seems that most of what we learn while growing up, does not recognize this truth. In our modern life, we usually get the message, that we should be able to tackle whatever comes our way, and triumph over any adversity. Little, if any attention is given to the importance of learning how to live with our internal feelings, especially the difficult feelings of vulnerability, fear, sadness, anger, despair, and loss.
And yet these are very real human experiences, and they come to all of us as we journey through our lives. Frequently, because we have not learned how to manage these kinds of feelings, we stumble over them, and often get stuck. And often they move us to make unwise decisions, or to engage in risky behavior that makes life even more difficult.
Psychotherapy is the practice of learning how to live with our feelings. In a partnership with a therapist that is a trust worthy ally, we can learn how to engage our feelings, explore how they work, learn how to tolerate discomfort, and how to change what is possible to change. Psychotherapy can help us to become whole, healthy individuals, who don't have to keep secrets from ourselves, or others whom we love and want to be close to.
Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance
For psychotherapy to be beneficial, it is critical that a client be able to feel trust in a relationship with their therapist, and to feel supported in their efforts to work on their difficult issues. Because I believe this is the most important contribution I can make to helping someone, I want to ensure that my clients feel respected, listened to, valued for their strengths, supported when they encounter difficulties, and that they can feel safe in being thoroughly honest in their communication with me. My commitment is to do whatever is necessary to establish this foundation of trust in the early stages of our client & therapist relationship.
