Most clients say that the hardest part of therapy is picking up the phone to ask for help. Choosing a therapist is a very individual process, and study after study shows that the best predictor of a successful outcome from therapy is the quality of the relationship between the therapist and the client. I am happy to speak with you by phone or in person for a consultation (no-charge) while you are choosing a therapist. If you feel confident that my training, approaches to therapy, and personality are a good match for you, we will discuss our options regarding treatment. Some clients meet their goals in a few sessions, others come for several months, and others longer. Because each client is unique, there is no one "right way" for therapy to proceed. I strive to build strong rapport and trust with clients. I use several different types of therapy that vary based on client preference and needs. I frequently use solution focused, cognitive behavioral techniques with adults; and play therapy and art therapy with children.I enjoy working with families to help them enjoy each other and function better as a team. I often integrate mind-body work into treatment with great results. My goal is to make you the expert and to have the positive results of therapy last long after your treatment ends.

More Info About My Practice
My first career was in corporate Human Resources, where I enjoyed 10 years of experience in counseling, training, and development in a variety of positions. After a few years off when my children were small, I went back to work as the founding program director of the YWCA of Darien-Norwalk Parent Awareness Program. At the Child Guidance Center of Southern Connecticut, I provided evidence-based psychotherapy for children and families of diverse cultures who faced a wide range of mental health challenges. I also have clinical and case management experience with seniors and individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities.
If you have the courage to improve your life or that of your family, I am committed to working with you regardless of your financial circumstances. Although I do not take insurance, I will provide you with an invoice at each session. You can submit the invoice to your insurance company for an out-of-network reimbursement or for a flexible spending account credit. If you do not have insurance, I am happy to work with you on sliding fee scale basis.
I speak "survival" Spanish.
