Ideas that guide my approach to helping:
1) Parents Are The Best Experts On Their Own Children.
No matter what the issue, as parents, you will continue to be the best experts on your own children. I take your expertise very seriously and welcome the opportunity to work with you to help you address your concerns about your child and your family.

2) A Safe and Caring Experience.
When life has dealt you a difficult hand, when you face especially tough challenges, when you feel ''stumped'', it''s natural for you to want to make sense of it all. You may be asking yourselves: Why us? Why now? Why this? I provide a safe, caring setting that will support you and help you make sense of the issues at hand, as we explore paths towards a better future for you and for your family.

3) Our Focus will be on your Future:
No one can change their past, but everyone can influence their future. We wont spend a lot of time raking over your pasts. The present is truly a gift. It''s my goal to help you, in the present, create the kind of future you would like to have for yourselves and your family.

4) Strengths-based / Positive Psychology Approach.
I am keenly interested in learning about your strengths and successes, and those of the members of your family. I will count on you to help me discover and uncover the victories and sources of pride, large and small, in each one of your family members. We will build on your family's strengths to achieve the goals you pursue in our work together.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I have had the privilege of working with many families who have a child who has a chronic or complex illness, or a developmental or learning disability. I have worked in hospital settings, schools, special education settings, preschools and clinics. I know that parents of children with special healthcare needs have difficulty arranging specialized childcare for their children and leaving the house in order to get the help and support they need, which is why I offer online video-conferencing for families.
I am a Board-Certified Family Psychologist with nearly 30 years of experience, but my children and grandchildren keep me on my toes and full of energy!

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

The reality is that most families prefer to keep the number of sessions to a minimum and I support that for ethical reasons. The appointments that I schedule with you will depend on your particular needs and preferences. I don't follow a pre-set schedule of sessions. Every family is different and families have different needs at different times in their lives. This is especially true of families where a child has a complex illness or disability. Generally, at the end of each session, I will ask you if you would like to schedule a follow-up session and if so, how soon? and with which family members?
