My Approach to Helping
Although we all experience change, it doesn't mean that we can always effectively handle the stress of transition. Sometimes we feel "lost at sea". With support, people can learn to surf the waves of change, steer in the direction that is right for them, and find the clarity, creativity, and humor to help them stay afloat.
With over 30 years of experience counseling and coaching adults I know that "one size does not fit all" and I tailor my methods and style to meet the needs of each client. I believe in the ability of each individual to find his or her way by building on their strengths and increasing their ability to be resilient. Connecting with others, developing new skills, learning to improvise in meeting life's challenges, and finding the humor in life are all ways of staying emotionally healthy during stressful times. My intention is to build a supportive, trustworthy, and meaningful relationship with my clients so they feel understood and safe as they explore and confront the issues and concerns that they are dealing with in their lives.
Although I have been counseling for many, many years I continue to love doing this work and have the utmost faith in people's ability to grow and change and find the AHA moments in their lives, even when things feel overwhelming and exhausting. I am patient and able to "hold the faith'' in the process.
