My Approach to Helping
I help folks target their difficulties that are in the way of living the life that matters to them, identify and utilize personal strengths to support progress towards a balanced and satisfying life and more gracefully and confidently cope with what is. Examples: inner peace, outer competent assertiveness, satisfying relationships with loved ones, coworkers, community, learning how to better regulate emotion or attention, experimenting with new approaches to old problems. Together, we collaborate towards health, tailored to your needs, guided by my experience, and adjusted within the feedback of therapy. In practice since 1979, I work with folks of all ages and w/most problems. My approach is collaborative and informed by your needs, challenges and strengths. I enjoy long-term depth psychotherapy as well as short-term problem solving therapy. I work with parents, couples, families and, of course, individuals. I have extensive training, including interpersonal/object relations, systems theory, cognitive-behavior therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT, mindfulness/spiritual, hypnotherapy, psychoneurological/biochemical, AD/HD, attachment & narrative therapies.
