Over the past 40 years, I've been trained in numerous approaches. I work hard to stay current with important advances in the field, and what research tells us is most effective. I am a Certified Gottman Couples Therapist. With a warm and friendly presence, I offer a collaborative experience of therapy. I have helped many individuals handle difficult work situations or career changes in academia, tech, and other fields. I also enjoy supporting people who are facing day-to-day stressors, loss, transitions, or issues with parenting. With exploration, individuals can discover new and creative ways to think about and address life challenges. In addition to individual and couples counseling, I offer mediation and conflict resolution services.

Do you find yourself getting caught up in unhealthy behavior patterns that you just can't get out of no matter how hard you try? Do you get weighed down by depression or overcome with anxiety? Do you keep trying to figure out your emotional struggles on your own, but realize that things really aren't getting any better? I've been in private practice for 25+ years helping people deal with a wide variety of emotional and behavioral issues. Talking about what is going on with someone you trust really can be helpful. I work to create a sensitive, supportive and non-judgmental environment that can help give you relief from painful or embarrassing feelings or problematic behaviors. Giving yourself this opportunity to learn, grow, and heal can allow you to better manage life's challenges and to truly live your life with deeper joy and satisfaction.

Many couples+ and individuals I work with are on the brink of expansion. Perhaps you are navigating new sexual interests, ethical non-monogamy, or dating for money. Maybe you've been polyamorous for years but are navigating the transition to include new partners into a shared household. Maybe it's time to explain it to the kids. Often there is an income, power, or sexual desire discrepancy causing friction that deserves tending to create sustainable dynamics. Many of the individuals I work with traverse the world with partners, genders, fetishes, or professional experiences that are misunderstood by the dominant culture. I work frequently with people recovering from orthodox experience. I am in service to your healing, keeping you connected to a grounded source of abundance, gaining skills to navigate personal and professional dynamics, and being in keen awareness of your power. I provide sex-positive, body-positive therapy for individuals, couples, and constellations embracing that consensual sexual activities are fundamentally healthy and pleasurable. I support folks navigating their relationship to substances and integrating psychedelic experience. I use emotionally focused, somatic, and attachment-focused evidence-based practices informed by Womanism, Jungian, and Transpersonal Psychology‍. I’m an immigrant. I’m queer. I’m non-binary. I am deeply nourished supporting people therapeutically and consider this work a personal calling. Together we can work to identify values, make meaning, integrate experience, and build you a network of support. Originally an ecotherapist, I now work mostly by phone or by video but continue to encourage my clients to consider meeting me while walking, or moving in their bodies when appropriate. I continue to offer ecotherapy when requested in three locations; San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Humboldt county redwood forest. “The doors to the world of the wild Self are few but precious. If you have a deep scar, that is a door, if you have an old, old story, that is a door. If you love the sky and the water so much you almost cannot bear it, that is a door. If you yearn for a deeper life, a full life, a sane life, that is a door.” ― Clarissa Pinkola Estés

The hardest part of therapy is getting to the first session, but once you take that step you will be happy you did. I specialize in empowering those who have tried to change but seem to be treading water or going backwards and don't understand why. You will experience a safe, compassionate, understanding environment to help you understand and accept yourself and to move in the direction you choose. I have a sliding scale and accept credit cards and PPO insurance plans.

My goal with all my clients is to help them discover a deeper sense of themselves and build resilience rooted in self-compassion, self-confidence, self-love, and acceptance. Therapy isn’t about fixing what’s broken; it’s about becoming more connected to who you are and what you’ve carried, sometimes consciously, sometimes not. In our work together, we’ll explore how past experiences, relational patterns, and early attachment wounds may still be shaping your present. This includes looking at limiting beliefs and subconscious behaviors that may be quietly running the show. As we bring these patterns into awareness, we can begin to shift the relationship you have with yourself. And because our inner world shapes how we relate to others, this work naturally extends into your partnerships, family dynamics, friendships, and your place in the wider world. I hold space with curiosity, presence, and respect. Whether you're seeking clarity, connection, or simply a place to be with what’s true, I aim to walk with you, not ahead of you, as you deepen into your own healing and growth.

If you've come to a crisis point in your life, it can make such a difference to talk with someone who can help you not only with your immediate concern, but with understanding what it can tell you about yourself. I have an exploratory approach -- listening for what you say but haven't yet heard and speaking up for what you allude to but haven't yet articulated. This process requires privacy, safety, curiosity, and attention. Over the 20 years of my practice, I've found this approach to be especially helpful to people who are struggling with depression, relationship issues, anxieties, shame, inhibitions, self-esteem, identity questions, and life transitions. I am an avid listener and have a deep interest in language and the subtle, multi-layered ways that meaning is conveyed and received when two people are talking. At its best I think therapy is a collaborative, creative endeavor.

Life can feel heavy sometimes. Stress, relationship struggles, low mood, uncertainty about the future, or the quiet ache of feeling stuck can weigh on you in ways others may never see. On the outside, you may look like you’re managing, but inside, you’re tired of holding it all together alone. I offer a warm, nonjudgmental space, in-person and online, where you can set down what’s been too heavy to carry by yourself. Together, we’ll explore the challenges you’re facing, uncover the strengths already within you, and create space for clarity, healing, and meaningful change. Over the years, I’ve walked alongside people as they’ve navigated anxiety and loss, found their voice, built resilience, and stepped into lives that feel more aligned with who they truly are, whether that meant finding or creating their dream home, growing their family, leaving relationships that no longer serve them, or discovering work that lights them up from the inside. Healing is not one-size-fits-all. It’s a deeply personal journey of reconnecting with yourself. Together, we’ll explore what nourishes your spirit, supports your growth, and helps you feel whole. With years of experience, I offer a seasoned perspective. I work well with those drawn to soul-centered work. It's a way of working that goes deeper than just solving surface problems. It pays attention to your inner life, your dreams, longings, struggles, and the deeper meaning behind what you're going through. I help patients explore their inner world through dreams, symbols, sandplay, and archetypes It's about healing and growing in a way that feels connected to your true self. Through this process, you’ll gain clarity, reconnect with your authentic self, and create lasting, meaningful change. There is hope. The life that you want is within reach. I provide telehealth counseling services for adults, teens, children, and sometimes families in California. I work hard to break down the barriers people often feel towards therapy by using relatable language, humor, casual rapport, customized packages, telehealth sessions, parent coaching, and more. I make sure you feel safe and supported. By including humor and other non-traditional approaches in my work, I am a good fit for those looking for someone who is not very 'therapist' like but still has all the experience, therapeutic skills, and insight to help create positive change. I am often able to connect with kids, teens, and adults who have previously not enjoyed or benefited from counseling. I am primarily a relational therapist, meaning that I hold the relationship between you and me as the most important aspect of therapy. In the session, I offer a warm and inviting space to safely discuss struggles, fears, or future hopes. I truly believe there is nothing too severe, dark, weird, or hard to talk about and I am deeply committed to creating a non-judgmental space where all topics are open for exploration. So whether you are looking for some brief solution-focused help or some gentle inquiry, you get to decide how we work together. I have a real passion for Neuroscience, Eastern approaches, and educating others on all the ways we are wired and all the ways that we can ‘rewire’ ourselves with the help of mindfulness and self-compassion. I incorporate a lot of cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, emotionally focused therapy, and more. I believe sharing one's story is the first step toward creating meaningful and lasting change. In therapy, I respect you, and your story and endeavor to listen thoughtfully while supporting your experience. I see therapy as an opportunity to work with people to make sense of situations, help articulate feelings, learn new skills, develop new coping mechanisms, create healthier relationships, and improve general well-being. I am committed to the well-being of all my clients, often going above and beyond to address their needs or advocate for them. I truly care and I'm forever curious about people.

I believe every individual is different and therefore there is not one approach that fits all people and all challenges. Therapy is a puzzle of trying to understand the core issues that need to be addressed, finding out the clients goals and then helping the client uncover their strengths which they will use to overcome adversity.

Most of the men I work with are already successful. They're just tired of carrying so much stress. If you're having trouble dealing with a demanding job while trying to have a life outside of work, that doesn't mean something is wrong with you. It usually means your current strategies aren't working. I've been where you are. As a former professional athlete and someone who spent years in the high-pressure tech industry, I used to believe I had to solve every problem by myself. What changed things for me, and what I now help clients do, is learn that asking for help isn't weakness. It's what separates people who keep improving from people who plateau or burn out. I encourage you to take the next step and call me to discuss how we might work together to create positive change in your life.
