My Approach to Helping
Are you ready to move past your pain and live the life of peace and joy that you long for? Hello, I am Susan Yuen (pronounced UN), and I am prepared to guide you into the fulfilling life that you deserve. I have been licensed as an LMFT for the past 15 years, and I have worked in the mental health field for nearly 23 years. I received my Master’s Degree in Counseling at the University of Northern Colorado in 2002.
I have worked in a variety of settings, including a psychiatric hospital, a non-profit agency for traumatized children, in public schools as an Intervention Counselor, in private practice for 10 years, and in an intensive outpatient clinic as a Trauma Therapist.
Through these experiences, my focus and passion have been on relieving those suffering from trauma, anxiety, depression, and addictions.
My job is to provide a safe container for you to heal and to let go of what no longer serves you. I do this by utilizing trauma-informed approaches such as eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), art, breathing exercises, and mindfulness to help you transform your wounds into wisdom so you have the opportunity to live a life of hope, courage, and freedom. In addition, I am also a Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS), which enables me to integrate dietary strategies and targeted nutrients as natural solutions for depression, anxiety, and other conditions. I look forward to joining you on your healing journey.
