My Approach to Helping

Have you wondered if your child or young adult would benefit from therapy? I offer a phone consultation to discuss any questions you may have and will be by your side to navigate the process. I am a licensed clinician who works well with parents, children, and young adults struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, school related, and social issues. My approach is to empower parents. I draw on your child’s strength while building new skills to work through their challenges and learn to become their own therapist. I also provide home-based services and collaborate with schools to support your child's success.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with specialized training in Trauma Adolescent Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Multi-Dimensional Family Therapy, and Adolescents with high-risk behaviors. My specialized training in family therapy and working with children in individual, school, and home settings give me a deeper understanding of your child.

I completed my clinical training at the Northern American Family Institute. I received post-graduate training at the Ackerman Institute for the Family and the Connecticut Women’s Consortium. I have a wide range of expertise, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused CBT, Multi-Dimensional Family Therapy, adolescents with substance use and high-risk behaviors, mindfulness, and evidence-based interventions.

Zackson Psychology Group serves high functioning clients of all ages from children, adolescents, adults, parents to executives. Most services are reimbursed by insurance companies. Our clients have challenging schedules, therefore, in addition to business hours, we also offer evening and weekend appointments.

More Info About My Practice

If you have out-of-network benefits, our billing team will be happy to help determine how these can be applied. We submit claims on your behalf and request that the insurance company send the funds directly to the office, so you will not have to wait for reimbursement. I work with Aetna, Cigna, United, Blue Cross, GHI, and others. You can verify your benefits by calling our office at 203-900-1666 or email frontdesk@drzackson.com.

For many, making the decision to see a therapist is difficult. My goal is to make this process as comfortable as I can. My practice is modeled in the style of an 'old-time' family practitioner. When you call, you will speak with Dr. Judith Zackson personally. Starting with your first conversation, we will get to know you and begin to understand how we can help you achieve your goals. We will ultimately help you to become your own therapist by learning how to better deal with the challenges that come up in your life.

My Role as a Therapist

I feel that I am able to provide warmth, patience, and clinical expertise to create a nurturing atmosphere in which clients feel comfortable to address their concerns. I draw on each child's strengths while building new skills to work through their challenges, improve problem-solving skills, and build self-awareness. My work is informed by evidence-based treatments and is focused on finding solutions. I collaborates with parents, educators, and multidisciplinary teams to facilitate treatment to meet the unique needs of each child.

My mission is to provide the highest quality of care. I am devoted to helping each client identify and implement effective strategies to facilitate treatment. My clients often experience a reduction of symptoms and improved well-being early on in therapy.
