My Approach to Helping
During challenging times we often doubt our own innate power to create the life we want. I view therapy as the process of rediscovering this power through a collaborative effort of learning, self-discovery, and guidance. Having over 20 years of experience in public service; to include the military, law enforcement, and emergency medicine; has allowed me to uniquely understand some of the most difficult challenges that life has to offer. More importantly, however, my experience has also shown me that, with proper guidance and understanding, everyone has the capacity to improve the quality of their life.
In order to meet the unique needs of each client, I draw from the evidence-based approaches of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). I also incorporate humanistic, mindfulness, and mind-body connection concepts for an overall wholistic approach to therapy.
I concentrate on working with adult clients presenting with trauma related issues, PTSD, depression, anxiety, and life transitions. However, I understand that my clients' needs might be more complex and diverse, so I’m always willing to help with a broader range of issues. Whatever your journey might entail, I'm committed to helping you realize your goals.
