My Approach to Helping
Emotions and behaviors affect each of us differently. From an early age, I recall observing and being impacted by the emotions and behaviors of myself and the people around me. I wanted to understand and help improve my life and the lives of others. Psychotherapy has provided the opportunity to do this. In the confidential, non-judgmental setting of the therapy session, you can express your thoughts and feelings, past and present. You can describe memories and struggles that affect your ability to enjoy your life. I can listen and try to understand the many factors that influence you. I believe that most problems can be improved or resolved with empathy, understanding, and action. These are the components of the therapy experience.
More Info About My Practice
Development occurs throughout the life cycle. Sometimes problems occur very early in life, while others develop because of relationship problems or situations that happen over time. Often self-doubt, fear or guilt interfere with our ability to make good decisions. Intense or chronic depression or anxiety also influence our lives profoundly. You may have difficulty with relationships, work, parenting, or sex. An unexpected event may cause you to lose your confidence. Or perhaps you know how you feel but are unable to communicate these feelings effectively. Skills can be learned and developed to work through these problems, reduce doubt and worry, and create a positive way forward.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
Psychotherapy is a collaboration between two people. However, your wants and needs are what determine the direction of the work. I understand the challenges of feeling depressed or anxious most of the time. Or of being overwhelmed by unexpected or intense feelings. One of the benefits of psychotherapy is learning how to manage these feelings allowing you to make better choices and work towards a more satisfying life.
