My Approach to Helping
My helping philosophy is grounded in respect for each individual client's uniqueness, for for each individual client's strengths, and for each individual client's quest. I am able to draw on a background of enormous life experience, both as a professional therapist and in my own family life (41 years of marriage, three adult children, five grandchildren), as well as my prior career as an actor and producer in the film business. I'm keenly aware of the difficulties facing family life in today's world.
I have a passion for helping young men as they navigate through life's pitfalls. I serve as a volunteer therapist with "The Soldiers Project" helping young veterans returning from combat adjust to civilian life.
My orientation is "Narrative" and "Post Modern" therapy in which the client seeks to "re-author" their lives in a way that reflects their deepest values. The therapist's skill is in asking questions that generate re-authoring.
