My Approach to Helping
I approach counseling with a warm, inviting, and compassionate collaboration. When a person is given a space to explore and discuss concerns it significantly increases the possibility of that individual to reconnect with who they are. When a person is able to be more of who they are, it provides an opportunity for insight and awareness that ultimately leads to personal well-being and growth. With these ideals at the forefront of our time together, it will allow you to gain skills and mechanisms to develop confidence and control over your life. Every person in this world has a story and life that must be respected and celebrated. You are what is important and that means guiding you towards getting more attuned with yourself is the more effective way to help you.
More Info About My Practice
I primarily use cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and existential psychology in my practice to provide a space for you to heal and grow. Many of my clients really appreciate my direct and honest responses and questions so he or she or they may gain a perspective that once did not exist prior to their visit.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
My education and experiences has given me the ability to help diminish and alleviate feelings ranging from depression, anxiety (generalized, social, and panic), post-traumatic stress, attachment concerns, and substance misuse. I am trained to provide trauma-informed care. Along with this, I am well-versed in the specific concerns and challenges of those within the LGBTQ community.
My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy
The purpose of psychotherapy or counseling is to not fix you because you are not broken. Every person has strengths and areas where growth is possible. It is with psychotherapy/counseling that you will be able to gain a perspective that once did not exist. It is a place to feel heard. A place where you can feel safe and comfortable in exploring whatever challenges exist in your life so you may experience the freedom to choose how you want to live your best life.
