My Approach to Helping
It is an honor to work with each one of my clients. As your therapist my focus is on you - who you are and want you want to address. Our time together is yours, and you deserve to get what you want and need from it.
My style is relaxed and engaged during our meetings, I work to create a safe and non-judgemental space for you to explore the issues that bring you to my office. As a client-centered therapist, your ideas, needs and goals drive each session. Together we look at the obstacles you face and create means of working around them.
Some clients are working through trauma issues, while others are addressing difficulties coping with life transitions, substance abuse, relationship issues, anxiety and depression, or emotional instability. No matter what brings you in - my perspective is not a pathological one, instead I see you as someone who, despite doing your best to navigate the complex and often painful world we live in, is struggling to live the life you want.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
One of my specializations is working with those struggling with substance abuse and use a "Harm Reduction" approach. Harm Reduction allows each person to define what their recovery looks like. I will help you no matter where you are in the process of changing your use, whether you are contemplating changing your use or ready to take action. Talking honestly about your substance use, in a non-judgmental, supportive environment, can be the key to positive change.
Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed
