I have helped hundreds of adults, young adults and youth recover from stressful, abusive and chaotic experiences or childhoods. Chronic and Extreme stress or trauma can impact how you react to everyday stressful situations and your ability to form relationships and think clearly. You may be struggling with anger, worry, guilt, or overwhelming sadness, feelings of distrust and distance from others, addictions, relationship problems or a lack of motivation. I can help you learn to manage triggers to disruptive, risky, hurtful and harmful behaviors and tune into your deepest values and goals.

Often those I help have been misunderstood and have been treated unsuccessfully by others therapists. I specialize in the clinical therapies that are proven to work (evidence-based trauma-informed practices) that focus on building strengths and resilience by addressing the underlying causes of many diagnoses. It is not necessary to endlessly rehash the past unless it directly impacts your ability to live in the present and you are ready and willing to talk about it. If you want to regain control over your relationships and feelings, I can help.

I enjoy working with individuals, couples, families and youth. Counseling others gives me hope and energy and challenges me to be the best person I can be. I welcome people of all cultures, races, and the entire spectrum of sexual orientations and gender identities. I consider myself bicultural and bilingual and endlessly curious and compassionate toward those who suffer and need some guidance and understanding.

More Info About My Practice

Midwest Counseling is currently in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) and also accepts out-of-network benefits from Aetna and Cigna. Midwest will submit insurance claims directly to BCBSIL, UHC, Aetna and Cigna. When I am not doing psychotherapy I work at Northwestern University Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences as a clinical consultant and trainer of trauma assessment and treatment projects in Illinois. I am also married and have three little kids to keep me busy.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

For me, I can think of no better goal in life than to empower those who have unjustly suffered through chaotic, stressful, or abusive childhoods. Psychotherapy provides me with the scientifically validated tools to realize my most deeply held/spiritual values: helping others. There is no better feeling than guiding and supporting others to discover their true potential, uncover their most cherished values, and let go of unhelpful feelings, thoughts and behaviors that get in the way of everyday life.
