My Approach to Helping
As a warm, supportive and interactive therapist, I work collaboratively with you to meet your specific individual needs. I see my role as that of a caring, supportive guide with professional expertise and training to help you live in more fulfilling ways and break free from stuck patterns. By creating an atmosphere of safety and trust I help you feel comfortable sharing your more vulnerable thoughts and feelings. This exploration often provides a sense of release, comfort and increased understanding of your experience. By understanding how your experience makes sense in its particular context we can work together to change ways of being that are no longer serving you, move through painful feelings like fear and isolation, deepen understanding of relational dynamics, enhance self awareness, become grounded in your truest self, and develop more effective tools for coping and communicating.
As a Certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist (EFT), I help couples understand their negative cycles of interaction, and what these patterns are really about in terms of unmet emotional needs and vulnerable feelings. By facilitating different ways of communicating these feelings and needs to each other, I work to help you and your partner enhance your sense of trust, intimacy and security so that you can each feel more cared for and connected within your most important relationship.
