My Approach to Helping
Life is full of feelings whether we like it or not. If you are struggling to identify your emotions and what they mean, you are not alone. Trauma, transitions, and a history of a lack of emotional guidance can make it feel as though you are grasping at straws. If you have children of your own you want to teach, this can be even more overwhelming. No matter the reason for this sense of overwhelm, you do not have to go through this journey of self compassion alone. I am a firm believer that we all have a “toolbox” of coping skills. Some may be empty, some filled with rusty tools, and others are just out of reach.
So, how can we fix this? I practice through person centered, strengths based, and trauma informed lenses. This means that I believe you are the “expert on your own experience” and am here to lend a non-judgmental ear. I primarily use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Emotion Coaching to reach your goals.
I have experience providing individual and group mental health services to children, adults, and families. They have been provided to a wide variety of underserved and underrepresented communities including the LGBTQIA+ community, those experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity, people of color, and those with intellectualdevelopmental disabilities.
