Inside each of us are all the answers to all of our problems. My role, as your therapist, is to help guide you toward accessing your own inner wisdom and strengths. Through a blend of mindfulness, creativity, cognitive-behavioral, and feminist therapy, I will work to empower you to discover and live your most authentic life.

As a women's health researcher, advocate and activist for 10 years, I am committed to the empowerment of marginalized people, including women, gender non-conforming people, LGBTQ folks, and people of color. I believe that every person is an expert on their own lives, and I look to you to define yourself and your life story.

I will work with you to look deeper into your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and will help you identify the parts of your life that are and are not working.

I am grounded in mindfulness therapy - meaning that I believe in the importance of paying attention to your thoughts and feelings in the present moment. Many people are taught to live their lives focused on the future or the past, and ignore the PRESENT. This can cause feelings of anxiety, stress, unhappiness, and depression. By becoming present in the PRESENT, you are able to see your life through the lens of new possibilities. Mindfulness also teaches stress reduction, compassion, and equanimity.

As a trained sexual assault counselor, I have worked with many clients over the years who struggle with healing after assault, whether it was a day ago or many years ago. I help clients find safety in their bodies (understanding and calming trauma symptoms), move through shame and guilt, tell their stories, and make meaning of the traumatic events. I am truly humbled to see these clients move from feeling like "victims" to "survivors"

In addition, I specialize in issues related to sexuality and reproduction, including identity, pregnancy loss, and abortion.

As a non-judgmental, client-centered therapist, I will empower you to find your truth and live authentically.

I look forward to helping you move through your challenges with kindness, compassion, creativity, and a little bit of humor.

More Info About My Practice

I am passionate about the power of group work. I lead groups regularly at the Body Electric Yoga Company on topics dedicated to authenticity and living your best life. In conjunction with a certified yoga teacher, these groups incorporate breath-work, meditation, gentle stretching, journal writing and deep sharing.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I've been working in reproductive healthcare for 10 years, and have counseled thousands of women seeking abortion services. In the U.S. 1 in 4 females will have an abortion in their lifetime, making it one of the most common and safe surgical procedures practiced. However, as common as the procedure is, it is unfortunately highly stigmatized in the U.S., leaving many people feeling invisible and ashamed, as if they are the only one in their lives who've had the procedure.

While most people are firm and clear in their decision and feel relieved after abortion, some do not. There's no right way to feel after an abortion.

If you are struggling after an abortion, whether a week ago or many years ago, I can help.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

For most of us, life ebbs and flows with ups and downs, like seasons in nature. Sometimes we are happy, confident and on top of the world, and at other times we may feel worthless, incapable and unhappy. We all find ways to cope with these natural ups and downs of life, and sometimes we may find that our own "tried and true" fixes are no longer working.

It takes a great deal of insight, courage, and vulnerability to realize that you need help navigating your life, and I have a lot of respect for those who do.

Starting therapy is a great way to help you overcome your challenges, gain new self-insights, and find new skills and tools to live your best life.
