In these uncertain times, I offer a safe place for clients to explore their fears and concerns related to Covid-19. I provide Telehealth services as a way of supporting those who are struggling to adjust to this new way of life. Further, I work with doctors, nurses and health care personnel who are adjusting to changes not only in their home and personal life, but also with the changing standards of healthcare. My compassionate approach to therapy allows clients to find comfort in an honest therapeutic relationship, in order to achieve their personal goals for healing. I work to create a non-judgmental and supportive environment that promotes an individual's personal strengths and innate ability to resolve his or her own life struggles. I am particularly interested in the dynamics of families and the impact they have on an individual's relationships and schemas. My intention is to gain an understanding of clients' patterns of behaviors and use my training and intuition to guide treatment and establish therapeutic goals. My interest in nutrition influences my understanding of mental health, as I recognize the importance of physical health and its effects on one's thoughts and emotions. I have studied the gut-brain connection extensively and believe that achieving balance in one's microbiome (or "gut bacteria") can lead to tremendous improvements in overall emotional and mental wellness. It is not uncommon for clients with "treatment resistant" depression and anxiety to begin to experience symptom relief when taking this approach. I work with my clients to help educate them on the gut-brain connection, and direct them to resources that can help guide them on their path to healing. Additionally, I am formally trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and use my knowledge of DBT to provide practical life skills to my clients in the areas of mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness. This type of therapy helps people to navigate the often messy world of emotions, and normalize the emotional conflicts that arise in everyday life. My intention in my work is to help clients to build insight into their patterns of behavior, heal their physical bodies, and provide them with DBT skills that will improve their ability to navigate life's challenges. I invite you to call me directly to see how I may be able to help you to reach your own personal goals.

I am client-centered, in that I tailor therapy to meet your treatment goals, and work hard to work my way out of a job. My sessions are informal in tone but evidence-based in their content. In treating children and adolescents, I integrate their parents and work with the family as a whole as well as the child. Bottom line is I am an experiential therapist. Many of us are not aware of how our upbringing and family dynamics are impacting our present life. We inherit more than just the physical appearance from our parents and family members. We inherit our generation's dysfunctional boundaries, poor communication skills, traumas, parenting style, and much more. We are affected not only by the way we think and respond, but by our environment and current family dynamics. Learning how to set healthy boundaries and functional communication skills can be very challenging if done without professional help. Life-stages come with its challenges but they also come with opportunity for growth. My specialty is Marriage & Family Therapy. Marriage and Family are such a strong component in our lives, that when their stability is threatened by an affair, divorce, family loss, mental illness, parenting issues, etc. we may feel lost and in despair. My goal is to help couples, families, and individuals build healthier relationships and functional lifestyles. I know how hard it can be to have hope & strength during moments of distress. Psychotherapy will provide you with a safe place free of judgment and criticism. You'll receive more than strategies and techniques suited to your specific needs. You'll also receive my unconditional positive regard, empathy, compassion, and genuine understanding of your pain.

You don’t need someone to tell you how to live your life. Sometimes you need someone who will really listen, help you make sense of what is happening, and give you an honest perspective when you need one. I’m Bryan Truelove, and I’ve been helping people navigate life, relationships, anxiety, depression, anger, and difficult transitions since 2008. My approach to counseling is comfortable, straightforward, and practical. You can come in and talk about what is really going on without worrying about saying the right thing or having everything figured out. We’ll look at what is working, what isn’t, and what may be keeping you stuck. I’ll listen closely, ask questions, challenge you when it can be helpful, and work alongside you to find practical ways to create change. Therapy is not about me making decisions for you. It is about helping you understand yourself and your situation more clearly so you can make the decisions that are right for your life. Whether you are struggling personally, in your relationships, or simply know that something needs to change, you don’t have to figure it all out on your own. Sometimes a good conversation with the right person is where change begins.
I believe that an enduring solution to any problem begins with a thorough understanding of its components. For this reason I use a holistic approach to both diagnosis and treatment. This begins with an initial evaluation in which I take the time to openly listen to the details of your personal history and mental health concerns. I develop a comprehensive biopsychosocial profile for each patient that can be used to inform subsequent care. I offer a refreshingly compassionate and personalized treatment experience and do my best to always empower you with knowledge about your diagnosis and therapeutic options. I draw from a variety of different therapeutic modalities and disciplines of knowledge when recommending options to address your symptoms and their underlying causes. Together we will consider your current difficulties, history, needs, and goals to craft a plan of care that makes sense to you and maximizes your mind’s and body’s natural healing potential.
My journey in the world of counseling is driven by a genuine desire to help individuals find their strength amidst challenges. With a background deeply rooted in trauma-informed care and substance use therapy, I aim to provide a space where healing is not just a possibility but a certainty. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), National Certified Counselor (NCC), Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CCMHC), and Master’s Level Certified Addiction Professional (MCAP), I bring a multidisciplinary approach to my work, combining my training in mental health, family systems, and addiction recovery to support individuals, couples, and families. I've witnessed the remarkable resilience of individuals in dark moments and believe that with empathetic connection and evidence-based treatment, true transformation is possible. I am committed to walking alongside those who are ready to reclaim their lives and thrive through personalized, empathetic care.
