My Approach to Helping
Exploring your life in partnership with a dedicated, perceptive therapist can be a remarkable gift to yourself. Therapy can help you gain insight into dysfunctional patterns and difficulties in your life, and support you in realizing your hopes and goals. Human beings are deeply social beings and our psychological wounds often originate in relationships - or from the lack thereof. But it is also in relationships where healing begins. My aim is to provide you with a safe, collaborative therapeutic environment where inner defenses can relax so that deep-seated injuries can be tended to and a more authentic "you" can begin to emerge.

What can you expect in our first session?
A strong therapeutic relationship is essential for successful therapy. In our first meeting, we will talk about what has brought you to therapy, and what your goals for it are. Just as importantly, you can ask me any questions you have about psychotherapy - and my personal approach to it - so that you can decide if the two of us are a good fit.
If after our first session you decide to proceed further, we will then work out session times, the frequency of meetings, the particulars of your issues, and fee structure.
My View on the Nature of 'Disorders'
I draw from various psychological theories but my fundamental orientation is Jungian Depth Psychology. This approach views symptoms not simply as problems that need to be "fixed"; rather it seeks to uncover the deeper causes of one's symptoms. Problems become opportunities for renewal and positive change - gateways to a more harmonious and fully-lived life.
