My Approach to Helping

Welcome. My name is Allie. I specialize in couplesmarriage counseling, and adolescent psychotherapy (teen girls and boys, ages 10-19). With couples therapy, we work together to identify gaps in communicationassumptions about each other, forming new modes of connection and healing. For individuals, we will explore unconscious patterns and behaviors in relationships with others and with yourself, and by doing so we will lessen the level of distress you are finding yourself or your relationship in. We will explore the modeling you received in childhood, as well as current socioeconomic variables that impact your overall wellbeing.
My approach is deeply collaborative and humanistic. In therapy together we will draw from: contemporary psychoanalysis, feminist psychology, creative arts therapies, existential psychotherapy & depressive realism. I am also deeply attuned to men’s issues, and finding one’s male identity in our modern culture.
I invite all clients to explore their possible resistance towards therapy, or feelings of discomfort, with the goal of creating an honest and authentic therapeutic bond. I believe that we are all imperfect beings, and that existential concerns can cause us to question our self-worth, our meaning, our identity and our ability to connect with others.
