My Approach to Helping
I am a bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker at IntraSpectrum Counseling and enjoy working with adults and adolescents individually, through family work and in group counseling settings. I believe therapy is a collaborative process that is unique for each individual. My goal is for clients to leave each session with a more developed sense of self awareness, and feeling empowered to make the best decisions for themselves.
My work is informed by psychodynamic, humanistic, mindfulness-based, and holistic therapy approaches. I have extensive training in working with adolescents and their families. I am passionate about providing affirming and strengths-based services to LGBTQ+ and BIPOC individuals. Areas of specialization include LGBTQ+ issues, trauma and chronic stress, substance use, and mood and anxiety disorders. It is important to me to meet clients where they are and work with them as they continue to assess their overall satisfaction with their lives. As needs for change are identified, I work together on finding solutions that make the most sense for that individual client.
I have worked in multiple community agencies with diverse populations; primarily Latinx immigrants and their families prior to joining the team at IntraSpectrum. In that time, I helped clients navigate the impact of traumatic stress on their lives at schoolwork and in their relationships. I value the unique ways clients experience their various identities and is highly passionate about acknowledging the different ways these identities may begin to impact one another over time. Clients working with me can expect comfortable, affirming, and relaxed conversations in session. I received my MSW from Loyola University Chicago, School of Social Work.
