I operate under the assumption that we are naturally inclined towards healing but sometimes require guidance and exploration in order to experience transformation and understand how we get in our own way. My approach is gentle and warm but very active and in-the-moment.
When we first meet we will discuss what is currently bringing you into therapy as well as all aspects of your life story. It may be necessary to first focus on crisis management, relaxation techniques, lifestyle issues or practical problem solving if you are feeling overwhelmed and needing immediate relief. We may then moved on to work through developmental issues and how certain patterns that you have formed may be preventing you from experiencing life the way you would like.
I specialize in the treatment of unresolved emotional injuries from childhood, post-traumatic stress, depression, anxiety, grief and substance abuse.
Much of my work focuses on helping people develop awareness of how their emotions, beliefs, and memories connect with body sensations, postures and movements. I find that through this awareness, deep healing and understanding of core issues can occur.

More Info About My Practice
I am an out-of-network provider. If you have out-of-network mental health benefits, your insurance company will reimburse some portion of the fee for psychotherapy sessions after a deductible has been met (the amount of the deductible and percentage of reimbursement vary from plan to plan). I will provide the necessary paperwork for reimbursement. I am happy to provide assistance and discuss this further in person.
What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
To be in the position of helping others is my privilege. I enjoy the collaborative process of therapy. I also love the honesty that is inherent in the therapeutic process. Therapy may be one of the only places where it is not only helpful but necessary to speak the truth, and to work towards shedding the armor we carry from day to day. I love learning about the complexities and idiosyncrasies that make each person unique. It is a true gift for me to bear witness to this - I am moved, challenged and inspired on a daily basis by the people with whom I work.
