What's My Approach to Therapy?
Hi, I'm glad you're here!
I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-worth, and relationship issues, as well as chronic illness, and shifts in religious beliefs or identity. My approach is warm, flexible, and grounded in unconditional positive regard: in this space, you are accepted for exactly who you are. Sessions are unstructured and shaped by what feels most important in the moment, whether it's a current struggle or something rooted in your past. We'll go at your pace and explore what's getting in the way so you can move forward with more clarity, connection, and a stronger sense of who you are.
I draw from psychodynamic, somatic, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) modalities, and incorporate dream work or parts work when helpful. My approach is collaborative (you know yourself the best, after all!) and relational. That means that in our sessions we attend not only to your life experiences but also to what unfolds between us, because those moments can give us insight into the dynamics of your relationships outside of therapy.
I firmly believe we are all doing the best we can with the tools we have; there is no specific path or timeline we must follow. I invite you to bring your whole, imperfect self to the session, as I strive to do the same.
