My Approach to Therapy

I'm a New York city-based licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). I am also licensed in the state of California. I work with individual adults as they manage challenges such as anxiety, depression, marriage, relationship, and dating issues, aging and caregiving concerns, parenting, pregnancy, and career and life transitions. Therapy meets you where you are. Clients seek my help for many reasons. Whether you're struggling with a crisis, managing painful or difficult emotions, or just interested in learning more about yourself, therapy can help you explore who you are and what has shaped you. Examining your personal history helps you begin the discovery process. Sometimes we adopt roles based on old patterns that don't serve us any longer. I help my clients uncover the stories they've convinced themselves or true, or that others have told you. These stories often keep you stuck. Therapy helps you identify unconscious obstacles to achieving goals, enabling you to begin the healing process feeling authentic and happier. I work with adults of all ages and backgrounds. I have over 20 years of experience working successfully with individuals suffering from depression, anxiety and who are experiencing problems in their relationships. I have expertise in working with individuals who have mentally ill family members, as well as caregivers; individuals coping with the pressure of caring for aging loved ones.

My Practice & Services

Seeking therapy can be scary, but it can also alleviate pain. The decision to pursue therapy is a hopeful act. The potential for change and growth that lies within each of us is enormous. I relish the chance to help clients weave between past and present, achieve personal growth, and health. My practice is informed by my training in Relational Psychotherapy, and Attachment Theory, that is, the idea that our beliefs about ourselves and the ways that we relate to or experience the others and the world and come to expect how our needs can or will be met, has a basis in our early attachments with others. I am certified in: -Intensive psychoanalytic psychotherapy by the William Alanson White Institute in New York City -Postpartum anxiety and depression by the Postpartum Stress Center in Rosemont, Pennsylvania -I'm a nationally certified geriatric manager. -SIFI certified by Hunter College, NY to offer supervision to master's-level MSW students.
