There is a power inherent in having a witness to one's dilemmas and challenges that naturally heals and helps people move past obstacles. Once we have been heard and understood, then we can begin to let go and move on. To me, therapy is creating the space for honesty and self-recognition. When we understand ourselves better, there are lots of ways of moving through various challenges.
Participating in this process with others and watching changes and movement take place in their lives is inspiring. I pull from a variety of therapeutic skills and techniques in collaboration with the people I work with in order to find solutions to problems and ways of getting unstuck. There are times in our lives that are particularly ripe for uncovering and addressing old issues or facing new anxieties; moving, dating, parenthood, job change, academic studies, can all shed light on anxieties and fears. Therapy is an excellent place to examine and work through life challenges.

I am committed to working out a fee arrangement that works for all parties and do not think choosing the right therapist should be dictated by insurance. Having the right fit in therapy is essential to good work happening.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
Some focused areas of study for me have been relational aggression amongst females. Helping middle school, adolescents, young adults, and adults navigate the complex terrain of female relationships is an area of expertise for me and was the focus of my dissertation.
I have extensive experience in working with adoptive children and families, both national and international. Each families experience with adoption is unique to them. When adoptive children have attachment issues, I have found there are particular ways of responding that can be especially helpful. I love helping families understand and develop effective ways of responding to the unique challenges that may emerge when children are adopted.
I have studied Infant Mental Health and am particularly interested in the experience of women adjusting to parenthood. Parenthood is a time that can be an intense time of sorting your identity as a mother, how you want to parent, and it can bring forward positive and negative feelings about your own parents.
