More Info About My Practice
I have experience working with clients who struggle with eating disorders, depression, anxiety, self esteem, and challenges with work life balance. Additionally, I work with service members and their families to help them overcome challenges associated with PTSD, TBI, reintegration, the deployment life cycle, communication, and intimacy. Central tenants of my practice are self compassion and self understanding.
My Role as a Therapist
I believe that everyone has the right to feel worthy and connected. I employ a variety of evidence based practices to help clients get over stuck points. My goal is to create a space where you are free to voice who you are without judgement. Engaging with your therapist in an open and honest manner helps ensure you will get the most out of the process.
We can discuss your desired treatment outcomes and I will guide the conversation as you address what is important to you. I am supportive and direct in my approach, sometimes hard conversations have to happen, and that can be scary. I provide a comfortable and encouraging space for self discovery and acceptance.
Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed
We all experience times where we feel overwhelmed by situations in our lives; these times can chip away at our sense of self and sense of purpose. When this happens we go to our "tool kit" of knowledge, emotional intelligence, and social support to help mitigate the negative impacts of these situations. Unfortunately this is not always enough, that is where therapy comes in. Therapy is a process in which we learn new skills, information, and resources available to help us along our individual journeys. Therapy is not about talking about all of your emotions all of the time, sometimes it just means looking at a situation from a different perspective. Life can get messy, it is okay to ask for help.
