My Approach to Helping
My practice focuses on relationship difficulties in adults and couples with a history of physical or emotional trauma or neglect. Relationship difficulties are frequently the most devastating consequence of trauma. Many clients tell me that while they are successful at work, they find themselves repeating painful relationship patterns with romantic partners, family, and friends. Such patterns often take the form of appearing 'cold and withdrawn', fearing rejection and abandonment, emotional numbness, trust issues, infidelity, difficulty expressing caring feelings, and anger outbursts. As relationships are a central aspect of the human experience, such patterns cause significant emotional pain and distress. In addition to this specialization, I am also a 'generalist practitioner'. This means that I am able to treat most psychological difficulties experienced by adults and couples including depression, anxiety, work issues, and major mental illness.
