My Approach to Helping
On the surface it looks like you have it all together, but inside you are hurting and feeling stuck, like the pain might not go away. You are fed up with things not working out, and want to have healthier relationships, but it seems like you keep running into the same frustrating issues over and over again. You want to heal old wounds that are holding you back. You are hoping to change toxic relationship patterns with yourself and others, learn to communicate and express your feelings effectively, and discover your most authentic self. Whether you are healing from heartache, rebuilding your self-esteem after a failed relationship, or simply want to work on yourself, together, we will identify and change unhealthy relationship patterns that have been getting in your way.
You are a creative type in your 20s-40s, and are likely struggling with the existential issues of our generation, such as a chaotic political climate, feeling disconnected or lonely, and a seeing a bleak outlook for the future. Together we will work on discovering the most authentic and healthy version of you, so that you can thrive and flourish in these crazy times.
My approach to therapy is eclectic and holistic, which means we will address your mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual forms of well-being. I believe that you hold the answers to your life’s mysteries and questions within you, and through a supportive therapeutic relationship, you can gain greater understanding of your own psyche, and improve yours relationships with yourself and your loved ones. The way therapy plays out in the room will be slightly different within each therapeutic relationship depending on your unique needs and personal world view. I work primarily from a psychodynamic and existential lens, while incorporating mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, utilizing spirituality (if appropriate and relevant for you), and humor. Cursing and laughter are welcome!
