My Approach to Helping
I have a warm and empathetic approach with clients, but am able to hold them accountable for their words and actions. I enjoy the process of engaging with my clients, helping them to examine their inner emotional landscape, and discovering strategies with them to disrupt negative patterns, face their personal challenges, and strengthen their relationships.
In working with male clients who have relationship problems, I like to stress emotional intelligence as a strength in improving communication and enhancing intimacy.
Improving self-esteem; becoming more assertive; becoming more independent vs. codependent; striving for abundance and happiness vs. settling for marginal jobs or relationships (making excuses) are some of the common themes that have run through my work. I truly enjoy helping people to help themselves and helping empower them to make better choices and strive for personal happiness and healthy lifestyles. I am a Kaiser member.
I am forming a Group for Men:
*Are you having difficulty creating and sustaining romantic relationships?
*Are you under more pressure now than ever before?
*Can you provide the name of your best friend?
*Can you remember the first book your father read to you?
Join a group for professional men to provide support while exploring relationship issues, life goals, and learning to understand a man's role in contemporary society. Tuesday evenings, $40/session. Contact Raelene at 408-529-4078

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
I love being a therapist because being there for another human being who is struggling and in deep emotional pain is a very humbling and rewarding experience. Helping someone to help themselves sets up a very positive situation. Clients who have benefited and grown in therapy take that awareness and growth into their lives that can positively affect others. I love continually learning more about the field of mental health to bring more awareness and solutions to difficult areas.
