More Info About My Practice
Why is it important that you choose a Credentialed Alcohol And Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) as your therapist if you are battling addiction or substance abuse? As a CASAC, I have specialized in-depth training involving thousands of hours of addiction counseling, comprehensive written and oral examinations before a State Credentialing Board, and unlike some other credentials, the CASAC requires many hours of advanced Continuing Education Units annually to maintain the credential. In addition to a CASAC, I am a Licenced Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with expertise in anger management, relationships, and mood disorders. I can teach you to develop a healthier lifestyle by enabling you to convert negative thoughts and feelings, such as depression and anxiety, low self-esteem, or misplaced anger, into positive thoughts and feelings. Yes, you can unlearn negative behavior patterns and improve your quality of life.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

If you are battling an addiction, ask yourself these crucial questions: Do I like myself enough to live a clean and healthy life? Do I deserve to stop my self-destructive behavior? Many people struggling with addiction hold a core belief that they do not deserve to live a healthy lifestyle…. After all, “If I were a sensible and rational person, how could I have gotten caught up in such a negative and destructive behavior pattern?” Or, “I was told since childhood that I would never amount to anything; so, there must be something wrong with me, and therefore I’m inadequate and ashamed….” This belief enables continuation of the destructive behavior. And the longer this cycle of thinking continues, the more entrenched the addiction becomes, possibly reaching the point where this core belief becomes: “I am so bad, I don’t deserve to recover or maintain my recovery.” After entering therapy with me, we will explore negative beliefs and faulty thinking, and you will learn how to dispute the fallacies that are keeping you stuck in the addictive cycle. You will learn coping skills using behavioral techniques that empower you to feel better about yourself. And now your beliefs will begin to change: "Yes, I do deserve to live a healthy lifestyle; I can and will stop this self-destructive behavior because I like myself, I am a good person, and I deserve to celebrate life.”
