My Approach to Helping
I see the health at the core of all people and that it is only their current thinking that will take them away from their health. Through an explanation of how mind, thought and consciousness work within all of us regardless of our background as well as an experiential understanding, people gain their own insights and behaviors change as the result of what has been called an inside-out understanding.

More Info About My Practice
I offer a variety of formats for specific needs because the typical once a week format is not right for everyone. I offer educational group sessions; executive coaching; individual, couple, and family retreats, which can be the most cost effective approach to positive transformation. We meet several times over the course of 3-4 days with follow-up phone and email service to deepen the insights that were gained and to sustain positive change for the rest of your life.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I love my work. What can be better than sharing what I've learned about accessing my own mental health? I teach what I have found for myself first and foremost. When choosing a therapist you want to be certain that the person you are going to learn from lives their own life with understanding and knows how to access their own health in difficult situations. I was very fortunate to stumble upon a body of knowledge regarding innate health within us all and how to access it. I do not subscribe to a disease model, I subscribe to a health model and this understanding pointed in that direction. Because I see the health in my clients, that is what I point them toward and as a result I never feel burned out what has been termed "compassion fatigue." That would never enter the mind of a counselor trained in the understanding of innate health.

What I Usually Need to Know to Help

I need to know how a person thinks. What they think is not important but how they think. In other words, it's the process of thinking and the habits of thinking that we all can get caught up in, that will give us an experience of each and every moment in our lives. Then once I hear what that thinking is like (ie. is it a habit of worry thinking, fearful thinking, low mood thinking, etc.) I'll give that feedback to the client and ask if he or she would like to learn about how the mechanism of thought gives us a sense of a reality that can work in our favor or against us, if we don't know how it works. If the client agrees they would like to learn more, I teach them what I've learned and found to be true in my own life. My therapy is based on a clients insights into how their experience is formed within themselves, and then change occurs automatically from the inside-out. None of us can continue to behave in ways we used to behave before we understood how our thinking contributes to our behavior. Insight is the key to everlasting change form within.
