My Approach to Helping
MY APPROACH
My approach to therapy involves helping individuals, couples, and families identify the thoughts and feelings that are causing problems and conflicts in their lives and prevent them from having more harmony and ease in their work or family lives. I provide a very caring and supportive space for clients to begin to explore what is in the way of their having success such as anxiety and depression along with the tools to work through them. I integrate leading evidence-based practices to help couples and families identify and resolve the stuck places that get in the way of true and lasting closeness and effective communication. And I help individuals to work through the painful or traumatic memories from the past that still impact their lives and get in the way of being at peace with themselves and the world around them..
In my practice as a therapist for over 30 years, I specialize in helping clients work through issues related to trauma and the damaging effects it has on their mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health. I draw from my extensive background in meditation and spirituality, including a period of living in a monastic community for 5 years in my early twenties, as well as my own long and intensive successful therapeutic journey. I utilize a multitude of conventional and alternative methods that I find invaluable which are tailored to the particular needs of each person to assist them on their path towards healing. These include gestalt and IFS (Internal Family Systems), Child Regression Therapy, EMDR and TAT (Tapas Acupressure Technique), Transformational Breathwork, as well as guided relaxation and visualization. I strive to provide a highly safe and supportive environment that fosters an in-depth inquiry into the areas of exploration and growth where each client chooses to go.
