My Approach to Helping
Hello. First, I would like to say that by looking at this website, you are taking a step towards taking care of yourself and therefore, others as well. We all know that life can be difficult and challenging at times; we all have our ups and downs. During these difficult times, it is important to either develop healthy support systems or utilize the ones that we already have. Seeking therapy is one piece of a healthy support system. You are acknowledging that some aspects of your life may not be going well and need to be changed. With that, sometimes we can also forget about what is already going well in our lives. In difficult times, it is important to remember what is working in your life. Therapy can help you to put life in perspective. Life can get better and you have the power to change it.
My name is Kristin Carney and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have approximately ten years of experience, working with issues such as childhood trauma, parenting, boundary issues, grief and loss, and couples and family issues. My approach is eclectic, but I often incorporate cognitive-behavioral interventions as well as systems interventions into my work with clients. I have a strengths-based focus and focus on what is working in your life and build upon that.
Thank you for considering me and I wish you well.
