My Approach to Helping
I believe that my purpose when counseling an individual is to help guide him/her through the process until he/she reaches the stated goals. I like to begin the process by building a therapeutic relationship and getting to know what is important to each of my clients and giving them the freedom to explore in a safe environment concerns they are experiencing. My theoretical approach is mainly cognitive-behavioral in nature. I strongly believe that our actions and feelings are directed by the thoughts we have about situations and people in our lives. If a person is able to identify and reconstruct their thoughts then he/she is able to have a better understanding of their feelings as well as actions.
