My Approach to Helping

In my practice I strive to maintain a warm, relaxed, and supportive space and I believe in meeting the client where they are. All of my work is informed by concepts in improv and somatic therapies. I believe each client is the expert on their own life and already possesses what they need to heal.

I work with clients 15 years of age and older struggling with depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, panic, perfectionism, distress tolerance, substance use, life changes, stress management, dating, boundaries in relationships, or just “adulting”. I also have 10+ years of experience working with adults with schizophrenia and psychosis.

I am trained in Emotional Freedom techniquetapping and use of Improv in therapy. But I also use a combination of CBT, ACT, DBT, insight oriented, motivational interviewing, psychodynamic, and somatic therapies. I am a proponent of harm reduction and your right to self determination. If you want homework I love sharing tools and resources.

I believe in the healing power of laughter, social support, meditation, mindfulness, and a strong therapeutic alliance. I also believe in living a value based life and practicing what you preach. I am a LGBTQIA+ & BIPOC ally and welcome everyone to my therapeutic space.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

There are many reasons people seek out therapy. Maybe you need emotional support or a third party perspective. Maybe you are a verbal processor and need a space to talk things through. Or maybe you are struggling to manage your anxiety, mood, stress, relationships, or substance use. Change is a process and it is ok if you are not ready to make a change, therapy is a place to explore that. Whatever is bringing you here I can hold space free of judgment and pressure.
