My Approach to Helping
Cassandra (Cassie) Sigler is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist in North Carolina with over 4 years of experience. She has a passion in helping people identify their struggles and live happier and healthier lives. She has worked in a variety of settings with diverse clients to include adults in an inpatient mental health setting, adults in treatment for substance use, and a range of individuals during outpatient practice. Her time in the field has allowed Cassie to identify the population she is passionate about working with and providing services for. She has largely worked with adults, providing support services during times of transition including the loss of a loved one, the end or beginning of a new relationship, new employment, education, and then some. Cassie has worked with clients to address a variety of concerns, including: anxiety, depression, grief and loss, substance use, and trauma. She also has a passion in working with veterans and their families. Her focus for her graduate degree was on military and families, discussing PTSD and difficulties with chronic pain, as well as adjustments to life after service. She completed a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology Social Work at Salem State University. She then moved out of the cold and onto warmer weather in Columbia, SC where she obtained her Master’s in Social Work. Cassie utilizes a strengths-based approach while incorporating cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and solution-focused brief therapy to assist her clients in defining and reaching their goals. She utilizes empathy and compassion to validate her client's feelings, while challenging cognitive distortions preventing client’s from seeing their full potential. She respects everyone’s autonomy and aims to support clients in a journey of increased self-awareness. Cassie sees the therapeutic process as a collaborative experience and values assisting clients with boundary-setting, while having fun and helping people learning more about themselves.
