My Approach to Helping

We all need to be heard. This is the premise of counseling with Teri. She works with ages 5 - 60. Teri offers an opportunity for a safe place to be developed between clients and counselor, a place where a working relationship is the foundation in which the client establishes goals to strive for. Teri believes that the Attachment lens is a basic consideration for all. For those who were pre-verbal in their experiences, or are non-verbal their stories need to be shared also.

If you chose counseling with Teri, you may experience techniques borrowed from Play-Therapy, Art-Therapy, Animal-Assisted-Therapy, Sand Tray, more traditional talk therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, PTSD trauma work, behavioral, Family of Origin work as well as being mindful of the here and now. Teri has been a Minority Mental Health Specialist and a Disability Mental Health Specialist for many years. LGBTQ+ respected. Individual, parenting, family work, and group work are services also offered.

Please feel free to contact me for a phone meet and greet of 10 minutes with any questions you may have.

Teri extensively studied Deaf culture & ASL at Seattle Central, post-graduate Infant Mental Health certificate at the University of Washington and eagerly participates in numerous annual trainings for the work she does with clients and her continuing education.

More Info About My Practice

The success of counseling is primarily based on the level of work you have come prepared to do, or are eager to learn to do. Counselors offer resources and tools and will help you celebrate your successes.

Regarding our professional journey, while I am happy to work with people that would like brief therapy, I am particularly interested in those that wish to work deeper and possibly over a longer period of time. Healing is a process.

NOTE: I do not provide crisis or emergency services. If you are experiencing a crisis, please contact the Crisis Clinic in your county. If you are experiencing an emergency, please go to your local ER-ED or call 911.
