My Approach to Helping
I offer a highly personalized treatment which places particular emphasis on understanding each client’s unique developmental history and personality features that may have contributed to the development of their current problems. I primarily adopt an insight-oriented approach with the goal of helping clients understand the source and meaning of their current concerns. In my experience, this process of collaborative discovery helps clients mobilize internal resources and attain the personal growth they are striving for. However, if a client experiences severe symptoms that interfere with hisher daily functioning (e.g., panic attacks), I may initially opt for a cognitive-behavioral approach to provide the client with immediate skills to relieve these symptoms or refer to a clinician specialized in the specific disorder.
