My Approach to Helping
I am a behaviorist and practice DBT (as well as other treatment modalities) as part of a group practice, DBT Eastside. Through my practice, I support clients to make meaningful change in their lives. I listen, explore, reinforce and challenge them to move toward healing. I believe that everyone deserves to be happy, yet there are times that happiness is obscured by stressors, stuckness, messages from the past or unhelpful patterns of behavior. I guide individuals, couples and families to identify and move through their own blocks to happiness, and to build more compassion for themselves along the way.
I value acceptance. I have yet to meet a perfect person, and it is my belief that only through owning the less perfect parts of ourselves, as well as our strengths, that we can be more fully integrated and forgiving.
I have counseled adults, teens, couples and families since 2008. I frequently work with issues of anxiety, depression, identity, self-esteem, attention, grief, trauma, sex-related issues and domestic violence. I have supported clients through the challenges of adolescence, aging, illness, divorce and integration into U.S. culture, as well as the stresses of everyday life and relationships. I also specialize in the LGBTQ and poly communities.
