My approach to counseling is to come alongside people who are hurting to connect with, comfort and challenge them. Life can be difficult but struggling in isolation can make it seem unbearable. In therapy, you'll try new ways of relating and acquire tools you can use to address the concerns in your life. Remember that commitment and motivation are key to success in counseling. Together we can make a change.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

This work is such a privilege to be a part of. Getting to help people love other and themselves better is my passion as a therapist. I grew up entirely unaware of my own feelings and emotions until they started wreaking havoc on my relationships. Diving in and understanding what's beneath the surface was a rewarding experience that I look forward to sharing in with each of my clients.

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?

I've had some negative therapy experiences too. I sat we 2 counselors in a row who seemed more concerned with practicing a specific set of techniques or educating me than with getting to know the struggles I had. Their intentions were good and their advice was sound but it was too hard for me to hear them without being heard first. I stayed with those counselors too long because I was afraid of making them uncomfortable and, as a result, I didn't get the help I needed for another 2 years. Negative experiences can make it even harder to enter therapy if you feel like you've given it your best shot. I can't promise to be a good fit for you but I can commit to being honest about our relationship and inviting you to do the same.
