Lake Mary is a city in Seminole County, Florida. It has a land area of 9 square miles. Lake Mary is named after the wife of a local minister who lived on the northern shore of the lake. The city was incorporated in 1973.

Lake Mary has a population of 16,000 people. From 2010 to 2016, the number of residents increased by 17%. Roughly 49% of residents over age 25 have a bachelor’s degree. Fifteen percent of people in this age group have a graduate or professional degree.

The racial composition of Lake Mary is 75% white, 11% Hispanic, 7% Asian, and 5% black. Ninety-seven percent of people in the city are American citizens. (The national average is 93%.) Foreign-born people account for 14% of the population. Around 17% of residents have a native language that is not English.
