My Approach to Helping
Change is constant and a natural part of life; experiencing and making changes can be difficult and uncomfortable. Support, personal flexibilty and structure can help with life's journey. My approach to therapy is a collaborative approach. Together, we will determine the goals of therapy along with the skills and the type of support needed to reach them. I provide a safe and non-judgmental place to be heard, realize other perspectives and practice new skills to overcome obstacles and lead a more fulfilled life.
I generally focus on thoughts and behaviors to manage feelings. I often incorporate principles of mindfulness into sessions. I find it helpful in identifying and making changes to the thoughts and behaviors that impact mood as well as developing a tolerance (and even curiosity) for uncomfortable emotions. I enjoy working with individuals (adults and children) and families.
