My Approach to Helping
HOPE. CHANGE. THRIVE.
I work with individuals who are experiencing challenges sometimes related to relationships, stress, anxiety, or trauma. I provide a warm, non-judgmental space to explore, grow and to challenge yourself. You might be interested in understanding yourself better to improve the relationships in your life. Or you might be adjusting to a new life situation that might be causing you to feel uncomfortable and stressed out. You might be contending with something in your past that may be throwing important life circumstances off balance. You might be wondering how to maximize your health and improve upon the significant relationships you've already worked so hard to develop. I will help to identify personal and/ or professional goals to provide you with a structure and support to achieve them. I will work with your pace, preference and level of motivation to help you better understand yourself, to cope with hardships, and perhaps change in your preferred direction.
More Info About My Practice
I am a budget- conscious and practical therapist. I don't believe in wasting time or money and my fee is usually $50. I don't accept any insurance. I usually schedule once or twice weekly sessions after identifying some areas to work on. I believe this relationship should only be supportive and productive and I welcome open feedback if it doesn't feel that way. I am also enthusiastic about offering therapy to people who have never tried it and am very aware that it can feel daunting and awkward. I will try to make you feel at ease and natural with the process.
My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy can be useful in many different ways. Some believe that it can be very costly and time consuming and is only meant for the neurotic or maladjusted people. But it's not. It can be useful when struggling to make an important decision or to prepare couples for a significant relationship. Some couples use counseling at the beginning of their commitment or marriage to help define it and strengthen it. It can be useful for trying to identify ways to change your behaviors so that you don't keep getting that poor result or outcome. You can practice new ways of asserting yourself or ways to deal with worries. Psychotherapy can help you get stronger and more confident in so many ways and it doesn't have to go on forever!
