My Approach to Helping

You've been told that there's nothing more magical than having a baby. You've seen plenty of images of happy moms doting on their new baby with apparent ease, so why is your experience not adding up?

On the outside, you look exactly like a mom, but on the inside you're plagued with feelings of fear, frustration, anxiety, guilt, and moments of total numbness. If your experience is not matching up to what you see on Instagram, movies, or mommy and baby products, you may feel like you're a "bad" mom. You may even experience moments of sheer terror, confusion, or outright guilt if you feel anything but joy and delight for your baby.

My experience working with postpartum women is that they are deeply caring women who are also their own worst critics. Your mind and body just went through a massive change, and the last thing you need is another message about how you could "do better". At True Self Online Therapy, my work is really centered on helping you "be easier" on yourself so that motherhood doesn't feel like a chore 247.

I'd be delighted to offer you a free 20 minute consultation if you are concerned about pregnancy anxiety, perinatal mood issues, or postpartum depression and or anxiety. I can also tell you a little bit about me and how I work so you're fully informed. You deserve this act of care for yourself.

More Info About My Practice

I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) specializing in perinatal and postpartum wellness. As a mom, I know just how challenging this work is.
There's a real need for moms to feel supported and not feel they have to take it all on perfectly! In fact, motherhood and perfection should never go together, but sadly this message gets spread to new moms who need to "do easier", not more.

Motherhood is a major life transition and it may bring up stuff from your past, worries about the future, or frustrations about the present. There is no one size fits all therapy for new moms, which is why I tailor my approach to each individual need.

I've been a therapist for 25 years and a mom for a lot longer. You will never hear me simply "uh huh" or nod along passively in our sessions. My goal is to get in there with you, so that you feel supported and moving in the direction you want. My process is active and highly integrative to meet you where you're at so that you're not overwhelmed.

Let's partner up so that you have a safe place to express all of your thoughts (yes, all of them), process your emotions, and learn real coping strategies that that take the pressure (and guilt) off of you

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

Humor: Laughter has saved me more times than I can count! I love to laugh with my clients and sometimes that's the best medicine.

Curiosity: Being open minded and curious is how we heal the world.

Nourishment: I love helping mom's find new and creative ways to nourish their body through good food, movement, and play!
As a new mom, you need all the help you can get! With online therapy, you can be both present with your baby and getting the support that you need. If motherhood wasn't what you thought it would be, you're not alone. Millions of women go through this and postpartum depression and anxiety is treatable. Give yourself the gift of real self-care, support, and tools to manage this new life transition!

Individuality: Some of my most favorite people are individuals who embrace who they are. I am often inspired by the uniqueness of each person I meet!

I also believe in YOU! You deserve to be cared for while you're caring for your baby. Reach out for a free 20 minute consultation to see if we might be a good fit!
