My Approach to Helping

I have immediate openings to serve those who are sheltered in place or are quarantined. By using a HIPAA compliant video platform, I am able to provide services in the comfort of your own home. If you need someone to talk to about your thoughts and concerns, feel free to contact me. This can be a time of anxiety for many people, but we are all in it together, and together we will find our way out. I connect with clients by listening intently and exploring your concerns without judgement. I take a holistic and individual approach to therapy, as each client is unique and your treatment plan is based on your specific goals. I provide clinical counseling combined with lifestyle coaching to help you feel your best mentally and physically. I’ll guide you step by step through the transformation process, provide support if you backslide, and help get you back on the path of living your life to the fullest. Call or email me to set up a complimentary 20 minute consultation.

I have extensive experience treating anxiety, depression and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, and Perinatal Mood Disorders. Are you ready to make positive changes and improve your mind and body to feel your best every day? Living as your true self means experiencing optimal health inside and out. That’s where I come in.

People are often hesitant to see a therapist, afraid of the stigma that there is something wrong with them. I hate to break it to you, but none of us have our stuff together! Yes, we all have our own struggles, some people just hide it better than others. Perhaps your life looks ideal on the outside, but you're still left feeling unsatisfied or feel like a fraud. Seeing a therapist does not mean you are weak or flawed. Everyone needs that extra support from a non-judgement, no-hidden-agenda professional at some time or other. Even therapists need a therapist!

I have the education, extensive training, many years of life experiences, but one thing is know is the best teachers are you, the client. I am fascinated by the resilience, strength, and hope that people have despite not having an easy path in life. People need a safe space to share their emotions, history and challenges - sometimes for the first time - without feeling judgment. I believe a heart-to-heart connection between the therapist and client is where the healing takes place. This sounds like, and is, serious business, but that doesn't mean we can't share a laugh once in a while. After all, it is the best medicine.

I started an online therapy practice to help relieve some of the stress around accessing mental health services. Online counseling is very much like face-to-face counseling without the traffic, parking, and the extra time and money involved in getting where you are going. Online counseling offers services brought to you in the comfort of your home or even in your closed office door during lunch time. I use HIPAA compliant technology with military grade encryption to protect the confidentiality of the sessions.

More Info About My Practice

I have been providing counseling services since 1996, working with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, or are living with the impact of trauma, life transitions difficulties, and stress. I have extensive training and experience working with people who experience low grade depression stemming from struggles with chronic health issues, weight issues, and physical dis-ease.

I hold certificates in Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Prenatal and Perinatal Mental Health, Postpartum Depression, Holistic and Nutritional Approaches to treating Psychological Issues, Plant Based Nutrition, Mindfulness, and TeleMental Health.

I have extensive training and experience in Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), after completing the Basic and Advanced programs, I became an Assistant trainer and then a Lead trainer. IFS has been the model that has most influenced my practice, and ultimately how I view myself and my clients.

My Role as a Therapist

My role as a therapist is to help you to live as your True Self. We all have wounded parts, protective parts and reactive parts. We have parts that distract us by using food or alcohol to numb out the pain. For example, a wounded part may believe they are "not good enough" as a result of past trauma. We may try to hide this by perfectionism, or overachievement. When this behavior becomes impossible to maintain, it will trigger the feeling of not being "good enough". To escape that feeling we may turn to food, alcohol or other unhealthy behaviors to drown out the feelings. I can help guide you so these parts can be healed, transformed, and better managed by your True Self. Through this work we can turn down the chaos in your internal world and create harmony and balance in your life.
