My Approach to Helping

Are you satisfied with the way your life is going? Do you focus on the past and have a hard time moving forward? Having many years of experience helping children and families to move forward and let go of the issues that caused the dysfunction. My goal is to help parents and their children to improve coping skills and increase communication. Have had great success helping blended families to adjust to the new relationships, and develop healthy bonds. Help couples resolve the barriers they face to increase their relationship and to move forward.

My goal is to you learn to not be resentful about the past and to move forward and focus on the present. Further this increases the chances of having a better future. Have helped clients to replace self defeating actions and feelings with increased coping and self esteem. Use proven solution focused therapy techniques to help you reach your maximum potential.

Provide new solutions to difficult problems you face and will point you in the right direction. Using a calm and respectful approach, to help clients feel comfortable talking to me because they do not feel like they are being judged.

Offer daytime and evening appointments during the week as well as daytime hours on Saturday.

My guiding principal in working as a therapist is providing courtesy and respect to the clients that I work with. Treating others the same way I like to be treated in a relationship. Helping clients to feel supported in their decision to attend therapy. Admitting that you need assistance to make changes in your life to succeed can be very scary. If the therapist is supportive it will not doubt make this decision easier. Helping you understand that they are not being judged will also help the client feel open to discuss feelings and concerns.

    I have several decades of experience working with children and families specializing in children with acting out behaviors, adjustment issues, and ADHD. I help parents learn successful child management skills to avoid outbursts, tantrums, and power struggles, as well as to be aware of the triggers that lead to their child's disruptive behaviors. I additionally work with divorced families.

    Another speciality I have is working with veterans who have have PTSD, depression, anxiety, anger and adjustment issues. Helping veterans and their families improve their coping skills, and decreasing family relationship issues. I accept MHN-Tricare and Military Source One insurance.
