My Approach to Helping

You deserve support from a real human who can connect with you. Let's collaborate toward your goals together. I'm in your corner to help.

Finding a Therapist can be hard….but it doesn’t have to be.

I see the potential and strengths in all clients walking into my office and use a client-centered and engaging approach. Clients feel like they can quickly open up given the approachable, nurturing, and attentive approach that I strive to use in sessions. When you meet me, you’ll notice my ability to create a safe space to help you develop insight from patterns in your life to make changes you want to see. I embrace a systemic focus on therapy in order to understand all the factors in your life that may be impacting how you are currently feeling – including your personal and family history, cultural background, and relational history. My goal is to help you identify a path forward to live a joyful and fulfilling life.

I specialize in helping people address identity issues, anxiety, depression, and PTSD and trauma symptoms including: panic attacks, hypervigilance, and somatic manifestations of trauma. I work with people struggling with low self esteem, body image issues, along with addressing cultural or religious trauma. I hold specialized training in EMDR trauma therapy from an EMDRIA approved agency – Institute for Creative Mindfulness. I am honored to get to help clients heal from their traumatic experiences by offering this evidence-based approach to moving past trauma.

In addition to trauma therapy, I personalize my therapeutic approach with a focus on serving marginalized communities by reserving sliding scale spaces in my caseload for those who may not otherwise be able to afford services. I uses culturally sensitive approaches when he gets to know my clients, especially during the first few intake sessions. With a systemic framework, I also frequently incorporate cognitive behavior therapy and emotionally focused therapy into the therapy room. Using these methods, I am able to focus on my client's strengths and always use unconditional positive regard when helping clients work through their treatment goals.

With a focus on helping individuals, couples, and families. I will collaborate with you to explore interaction cycles and patterns in order to support positive change in your life. I can help work through communication difficulties, sexual desire differences, out of control sexual behaviors, and gridlocked issues. I am skilled at helping couples learn how to regulate and integrates emotional regulation strategies from DBT therapy.

I welcome people in all relationship arrangements, and frequently work with members of the LGBTQ+ community. I attended my own therapy as a young adult when navigating issues around my own sexuality and religious trauma that I endured. I recognizes how difficult it can be to find a therapist who has competency in addressing sexuality. Growing up with a lack of resources and support around my identity, I now focus on providing LGBTQ psychoeducation and support in my office.

When you ask me for my current recommendation for a book to help improve your relationship – my first go-to is “Attached” by Amir Levine and Rachel Heller. This book can help you understand how our interactions with your family impact the development of attachment styles. The book gives insight into how best to connect in romantic relationships.

This understanding helped me better understand myself and I hope to help support others in learning insight and labeling patterns in the therapy room in order to enjoy healthy fulfilling relationships.

In my free time, you can find me enjoying the local theatre community, along with enjoying playing music with my friends. My favorite self-care plan is being outside in nature – you can find me taking any chance I can get to be around water or on a new hiking trail.
